You cannot find out what Mindbody costs

Mindbody publishes a $79 per-location floor and no tier prices at all. What that means for one pro, and what CNL charges instead.

Mindbody's pricing page carries exactly one number: "Starting at $79 USD/month per location." Not one of its three tiers has a price next to it. All three say "LET'S TALK." CNL Systems is $29 a month, flat, and the number is on the pricing page because that is where a price belongs.

Most people searching for a Mindbody alternative are not unhappy with the software. They are unhappy with what it costs one person. Mindbody is a serious product built for studios with staff, and for a yoga studio with four instructors and a front desk it earns its money. This page is about what it costs someone who is the whole business.

How much does Mindbody cost?

Nobody outside Mindbody can tell you. Mindbody pricing publishes one figure and no tier prices: the floor is $79 a month per location. Above that, Starter, Accelerate and Ultimate each carry a "LET'S TALK" button and no figure, and the page adds: "Connect with Sales to learn about available discounts that fit your studio's size and budget."

Read that sentence from the chair. Discounts that fit your size and budget means the price is a negotiation, and a negotiation means somebody is deciding what you personally will pay. If you are a one-chair shop, you are the weakest party at that table.

Mindbody's own FAQ sets out the three parts of the bill, in their words: the base plan per location, premium add-ons, and "transaction fees tied to payments" that apply "when you accept payments, send text messages, use certain integrations, or when a new client discovers you on the Mindbody app."

That last clause is worth reading twice. There is a fee attached to a client finding you through their marketplace, which is the same shape as Booksy's Boost. Neither the rate nor the cap is published.

Why is there no price on the pricing page?

Because the price depends on who is asking, and that only works if you cannot compare. Ask how much is Mindbody and the honest answer is that it depends what a salesperson decides you can pay.

Every competitor on this site publishes tier prices you can read at 11pm without talking to anyone. Booksy prints $29.99 plus $20 per extra person. GlossGenius prints $28, $56 and $168. Vagaro prints $30 promoted at $23.99, and each add-on beside it. All of them are laid out side by side in what booking apps actually cost. You may not like those numbers, but you can plan around them.

A sales call is not a pricing model. It is a filter, and what it filters for is businesses big enough to be worth quoting.

What is behind each Mindbody tier?

From the compare table on their own pricing page:

Starter Accelerate Ultimate
Booking, payments, unlimited users yes yes yes
Listing on the Mindbody app yes yes yes
Room and resource management no yes yes
Advanced reporting and analytics no yes yes
Email and SMS marketing no no yes
Lead management dashboard no no yes
Branded app not available add-on add-on

Two things a solo operator should notice.

Text and email marketing is Ultimate only. Reaching your own client list to fill a slow week sits at the top tier, and the top tier has no published price.

The branded app is not merely gated, it is unavailable on Starter, and remains a paid add-on on both tiers above it.

Unlimited users is genuinely good, and Mindbody is right to lead with it. It is also the benefit that does the least for someone with no team. You are paying a per-location price built to be spread across a floor, and there is nobody to spread it across.

Mindbody vs Vagaro for a solo pro

They fail a one-person business in opposite directions, which is useful, because it shows the shape of the whole category.

Vagaro publishes everything and sells it piece by piece. $30 a month list for one calendar, currently promoted at $23.99, then MySite at $20 for the website, text marketing at $20, forms at $10, storage from $10. Stack what a working shop actually uses and it is $83.99 a month, or $93.99 with the online shopping cart. You can see the whole menu, and the whole menu is the problem. Full breakdown: the Vagaro alternative.

Mindbody publishes almost nothing and sells you a location. $79 a month per location is the floor, the tiers are quoted by a salesperson, and marketing lives in the tier nobody prices.

Vagaro asks you to price your own business one add-on at a time. Mindbody asks you to get on a call before you find out. Neither is built for one person deciding at the end of a shift whether the software is worth it next month.

Is Mindbody right for a solo barber, stylist or nail tech?

Usually not, and that is a fit judgment rather than a criticism.

Mindbody is studio software. Its best features are room and resource management, class scheduling, Pick-a-Spot, staff analytics and lead management. Those are real advantages when you run a floor with instructors, rooms and memberships. Their own compare table is organized around exactly that business.

If you are one person with one chair, the honest list of what you need is short: clients find you, they book without texting you at midnight, a deposit holds the slot, a reminder gets them there, the payment lands in your account, and the client list stays yours. A per-location platform priced by sales call is a large answer to a small question.

Mindbody also lists you on its consumer app, which they say reaches 3M+ monthly shoppers. That is a genuine asset, and it is also a marketplace: a directory where your clients can see everyone else nearby, with a fee attached when someone discovers you there. Whether that trade is worth it depends on whether those clients were going to find you anyway.

What does CNL cost?

$29 a month, flat, one plan, and no percentage of your sales, ever. No tiers, so nothing is being withheld to sell you later. No sales call, because there is nothing to negotiate.

Inside it: your own website on your own domain, online booking with deposits, payments online and in person, automatic reminders, your client list, and email campaigns. Text and email marketing is not a top tier here, it is just included.

The rest, plainly:

  • The domain is yours. We register one at cost, about $12 a year for a .com, or connect one you already own free.
  • No marketplace, so no discovery fee. Nobody takes a cut of a first visit, because there is no directory to be discovered in.
  • Card processing at Stripe's published rates with no CNL markup, and an optional Stripe WisePOS E at $249 bought direct from Stripe.
  • Live within 24 hours, set up by a person.
  • Leave whenever you like and take the full client export, history and notes included.

What CNL is not: class scheduling, room and resource management, memberships, staff rotas or commission splits. If you run a studio with instructors and rooms, Mindbody is built for that and this is not. We would rather lose the sale than have you find the gap in month two.

The short version

Mindbody starts at $79 a month per location, publishes no tier prices at all, gates text and email marketing behind an unpriced top tier, and charges a fee when a client finds you through its app. It is good software for a studio with staff, and it is priced like enterprise software because that is what it is.

If you want a Mindbody alternative that prices itself in public, CNL is $29 a month, printed on the pricing page, with the website and the domain included and no cut of your sales. One pro, one book, one number you can read without booking a call.

A note on the other Mindbody alternatives. If you genuinely run a floor with staff, rooms and memberships, compare studio platforms and ignore this page. If you are one person, the comparison that matters is not which studio platform to pick, it is whether you need one at all.

Mindbody's $79 per-location floor, the absence of published tier prices, the tier gating in the table above, the transaction-fee language and the 3M+ app figure were all taken from mindbodyonline.com/business/pricing and its FAQ on August 24, 2026. Booksy, GlossGenius and Vagaro figures come from those companies' own pricing pages, checked in August 2026. Prices move; check them before you sign anything, including ours.
